FAQ

You've got questions. We've got answers.

Yes. We charge $497 to form a corporation or an LLC for you. That’s all-inclusive and includes attorney phone meetings, filing your company with the state, EINs, and all the documents you need to make you legal. There’s no upcharge for documents or fancier work.

The fee is broken down into two payments. You pay us $20 to hire an attorney to advise you on your new business. We bill you the balance of $477 when you authorize your attorney to form your company. If you don’t authorize us to form your company, you just pay the $20.

You’re also responsible for paying expenses associated with forming your company—state filing fees, registered agent fees, etc.

Your $20 covers your first phone meeting with a real, licensed startup lawyer. In order to form an attorney-client relationship, some form of payment must be made. However, we’ve kept this initial cost minimal. This way, you’re empowered to make a decision with little monetary risk. This payment is what makes it possible for your attorney to provide legal advice to you, whereas if it was simply a consultation with no contract or payment, the attorney would not be free to provide advice tailored to your individual business needs.

Many of the big business formation websites advertise "legal" services and real attorney advice. However, most of these sites are NOT law firms and CANNOT PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE. If you use these sites, you have to figure out what to do yourself. They sell you forms and clerk filing services. We think these misleading labels do a disservice to you, the client, when there are excellent, licensed attorneys and law firms around the country providing real legal representation.

Many sites also make it sound like they are “a network of attorneys” but in reality they are lawyer referral services that refer you out to attorneys on their plans. It’s still a do-it-yourself site. While these services can be helpful, we think it can be done better.

Our PUSHTOSTART service is different. We're proud to be members of a noble profession and proud to be members of the bar in several states. We take our professional and ethical obligations very seriously. And we think that difference lets us provide you with a better company than a do-it-yourself website can provide.

You sure can. In fact, if you’re brave enough to do it yourself we recommend that you skip all the do-it-yourself websites and go straight to the secretary of state’s website in the state you want to form in. However, PUSHTOSTART’s real value is that experienced business attorneys provide advice to make sure you're doing it right the first time, that you’re selecting the right entity, and that you’re signing the right documents. If you want real lawyers to form the company for you—and partner with you in starting your business out right—you've come to the right place.

Your company formation is critical to the financial and legal success of your business. We have years of experience and training so you don’t have to do it yourself. PUSHTOSTART is NOT a DIY site. We form the company for you and advise you until it’s launched correctly. The biggest thing we've learned from entrepreneurs is that trying to figure it out yourself takes too much time and you get conflicting or confusing information from the Internet. We've taken the guess work out of the equation. We'd never ask you to do our job—you do what you do best and leave the DIY to us.

You're in the right place! Unlike other formation sites, at PUSHTOSTART you get a real attorney to walk you through your needs and to give you advice on what the best entity is for your situation, at no obligation. You don't need to know a thing.

That's the million dollar question. Please look at our Resources section to learn more about how business entities work and the advantages of different types of companies. However, each situation is different and it often takes a trained legal opinion to get you your best option. Fortunately, we would never expect you to figure this out yourselves. Our advantage is that you're paying for real lawyers to recommend the best type of company for your business.

There's no set amount of time it takes to finalize your company's formation. In most cases, the limiting factor is how long it takes for the state to process your filings. Some states process immediately online. Others require that you submit via mail only, which takes longer. Others employ some sort of hybrid online/mail system. In general, turnaround takes about a week to ten days, though it might be even faster than that!

Unlike most sites, we don’t offer expedited service because most sites use it as an excuse to charge people more money. If you need something by a specific date, just tell us. We'll do our absolute best to turn around your formation within your timeframe. Keep in mind that our turnaround time is usually based on how long it takes the state to approve the formation. Some states offer expedited services at an additional charge. We don’t charge extra to form your company by a specific date, but you would be responsible for any expediting expenses that go along with it. Since so many variables go into formation, we also can’t guarantee successful formation by a specific date.

We work hard and we hope you’re always thrilled with our product. But just in in case, our work is guaranteed. If you're not satisfied with your documents or service, please let us know as soon as possible and we will make it right. If you’re still not happy, we will refund your fee (we can’t refund expenses we’ve fronted for you).

There's never an obligation to purchase a formation package from us, and we won't charge you until you authorize it. You'll only pay the initial fee of $20 to speak with your startup lawyer. If you authorize us to form your company at the phone meeting, we’ll apply the $20 you’ve already paid to your fee. If you choose to do it later, your $20 won’t apply and you’ll have to pay the entire $497 when you’re ready.

We form modern business entities, and most of them can operate without stock or membership certificates. However, if you wish to track ownership through certificates, you may. We recommend electronic certificates through Capshare, which provides electronic certificate services and great cap table management software.

We’re not like other sites. We don’t need to justify our costs with gimmicks or fancy binders. We feel like that money is better spent on real attorney advice. Our company documents are drafted to be modern and streamlined, electronically signed and stored. Seals are increasingly obsolete components. We’re more concerned with getting you good advice, a great value, and modern documents than unnecessary items.

PUSHTOSTART is not yet available in all states. However, we're expanding fast and adding new states all the time. If your state isn't listed as available here, be sure to check back soon.

Absolutely. Your initial fee and package price hires a real startup attorney and forms an attorney-client relationship that is governed by the contract for legal services you agree to before representation starts. It's not just a consultation; an attorney will give you real advice.

All legal services are provided under the direct supervision of attorneys licensed in the state in which the company is being formed.

All advice given to you is by actual attorneys. You'll work directly with an attorney throughout the process. The company filing and document work may be done by legal assistants under the direct supervision of licensed attorneys. An attorney will review your documents before you receive them.

We are headquartered in beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee. Chattanooga is a growing hub for startups and innovation and has a great quality of life. We kind of like it here. Our attorneys might be located all over the country.
